Just Say the Truth, People Will Come
Uttering lies is a short-term "strategy" (like social control media clickbaiting), it won't last
4 MONTHS from now we turn 18. We've lasted and thrived for so long because since the beginning ("Boycott Novell") we've been honest, hard-hitting, and uncompromising on truth/facts. Many attempts to censor/undermine us have failed (that's rather easy when sites outsource to third parties such as social control media or FeedBurner, which effectively burns RSS feeds).
3.5 years ago we adopted Gemini Protocol (more than a year after it had started) and many readers also adopted it. In the past 3 days we've served 9962, 9582, and 6759 requests over Gemini compared to 505189, 487851, and 497359 over HTTP/S (for this domain alone, not counting alias domains).
In the spirit of sites such as Wikileaks, one needs to put information out there. The rest will follow. No need for E-mail marketing, promotions in social control networks (volatile and full of fake "traffic"), "Microsoft Dawah" [1, 2] etc.
The only downside of our success is that it attracts nasty, vicious, outright criminal (as in, committing cybercrimes) trolls. Their antics and tactics ought to be widely understood; we need to collectively inoculate ourselves against them. They don't pound with facts, they just try to censor, provoke, entrap, and harass entire families. They basically emulate the tactics of the Soviet Union or modern-age China (yes, same modus operandi, whether intentionally or not; same playbook). Then they tell us that anyone with the audacity to stand up and resist them is a "nazi". █
