Wayland is Perfect, Nobody Can Escape Its Perfection! (Or Not)
Wayland: the project without any bugs!
Many articles out there try to declare the "death" of X, just like many lousy articles tried to declare MP3 "dead" because software patents on it had all expired.
As sysdfree-editor's latest post put it: "Is X11 Xserver dying in a classic RedHat way, “pull the plug and let it rot advertising with 90% of tech-media on the pay-roll that X is dead!”" (Phoronix has done this for about a decade already, spreading a lot of FUD; we covered examples).
It's very clear that many distros will stay with X11 Xserver and will benefit from it. The same is true for BSDs. jwz complained about Wayland as recently as 7 hours ago. To quote: "Wayland is not a window system, it is a collection of hundreds or thousands of "extensions" that any given "compositor" (window manager) may or may not implement, à la carte, meaning there are actually dozens or hundreds of "Waylands", and it's amazing that anything works at all."
Yesterday he wrote about it as well. To quote: "(But swaylock is Wrong anyway: as I keep saying, locking should be built into the display manager, not some third-party user-space program.)"
He said it 2 years ago. Well before the latest political battles. Yes, political. They try to make this about political views or one's opinion on COVID-19 vaccines.

As we showed before, Wayland is full of bugs, including critical, security-related bugs. Do not form on opinion on Wayland based on politics. It's a dirty game that IBM, an actual collaborator of actual nazis, wants to play. █
