Search for "linux" in Google News, Get Slopfarms
After some cautious optimism (this morning) we've once again checked Google News. We did that a few moments ago, only to find a triplet of slopfarms that infest Google News and all got promoted by it earlier today. They're trying to override originals about a new release of Linux using SEO by slop, permutation, and fake images:
All the above are controlled by the same person/s.
Further down Google News also promotes another fake site. It targets news about GNU/Linux growth, e.g. [1, 2].
The WebProNews slopfarm:
They use fake text to cover real news. That's a problem. Why does Google help them? This merely distorts information, rewards plagiarism, and reduces credibility.
The simplest explanation regarding Google's motivation (or apathy) is, Google itself participates in slop and tries to sell slop (under the guise of Bard, rebranded as "Gemini" for likely nefarious reasons).
Google lacks a financial incentive to let "AI" fail, become passé, and for Google's valuation bubble to implode due to it selling lies and false promises/prospects of "intelligence". █
