Google Confidently Wrong, Nowadays Defaming People Too

posted by Roy Schestowitz on Dec 28, 2025

I can relate as people did this to me and to my wife

Months ago: Google "AI Overview" is Not AI and Not Overview | Free Software-Hostile Militants Created Fictional and Defamatory Blogs About Me. It Turns Out They Wrote About Themselves, Projecting Their Own Abusive Behaviour.

This can lead to a shutdown/'showdown' in the coming years:

Musician Cancelled as AI Falsely Accuses Him of Horrific Crimes

Google’s AI overview [sic] is not AI, it's a disgrace, it is a form of plagiarism, it gets things wrong, and eventually Google might have to end it. We previously discussed how it gets very basic facts about myself and about this site horribly wrong. I heard the same from other people (what Google’s AI overview says about them or things they know well, relate to etc.) and Google is basically shoving those snippets of text everywhere, even if people who run Google searches don't ask for them and actively wish to avoid those so-called "overviews" (low-grade slop).

The above new story from Futurism isn't the exception, as this sort of thing happens all the time (it's simply too crappy to be deemed reliable; it's lacking a use case, except Google trying to 'steal' traffic from sites that it digested and processed poorly, recklessly).
