Red Hat (IBM) is Driving Away Remaining Fedora Users

posted by Roy Schestowitz on Jan 15, 2026

Red Hat (IBM) has been busy trying to help Microsoft [1, 2] inflate the "AI" bubble [1, 2, 3, 4] and sell Azure (back doors), kill switches etc.

Microsoft and Red Hat (IBM)

I've not used Fedora since Moonshine. Back then I used it as a postdoc on my work machine. That was in 2010 and 2011. Then I moved to another distro. Fedora didn't work for me. Some packages in Fedora didn't work right and I wasted a lot of time trying to force them to work. Back then, at least, Fedora was considered a community.

Last month an avid Fedora user told me that he had dumped Fedora.

Why?

He was very clear about it.

He told me that Fedora's fascination was slop (which he called "AI") was the reason.

"I saw your article about Torvalds's *vibe coding*," he said this week, "and I just want to add that Linuxiac is in the same boat with the others, including with the AI generated images. He never posted an actual screenshot of a Linux desktop or software! He continues to mirror everything posted on 9to5Linux and Phoronx with no shame. Just another bot..."

Call it "vibe" or whatever, LLMs produce slop and it's not of real value. As for Linuxiac, I spoke to its editor after we had caught him using LLMs. He didn't deny to me that he tried LLMs, but soon after that he appeared to have stopped.

In our experience, people who experiment with slop give up at the end. They realise they relied on nonsense for quantities at the expense of quality.

This was just a few hours ago:

Deny, deny, admit: UK police used Copilot AI “hallucination” when banning football fans

They'll probably abandon Microsoft "copilot", just like Manchester United did. Eventually, Microsoft's stock will fall. It's a lie, its "Value" is based on "False Marketing" and false claims it'll improve.

Bitcoin "value":

Microsoft "value":

Market cap history of Microsoft from 1996 to 2025: 4,000B+, Windows market share ~90%; Windows market share ~30%

As for IBM and Fedora, two days ago we published: IBM Stock Compared to Bitcoin, Fake Articles About IBM Promote Myths About IBM

IBM has put its chips down. It chose losing cards.

By the way, the latest spin from Microsoft and Cheeto (whom it sponsored) is that Microsoft is a "good neighbour" for sucking up lots of water and using up all the electricity in neighbourhoods. The supine, corrupt (sometimes bribed) press is just parroting what Microsoft says about prices of electricity. Like the Linux Foundation, they totally invert the narrative by spreading deliberate lies [1, 2].
