Writing About Abuse
Never ever allow misogynists to get their way if you strive to live in a decent society
In the coming days (or day) we'll commence three series. It's not quite like writing 3 books in parallel because the nature of book-writing (I have some experience writing at that sort of scale) requires outlining, careful structuring, planning, incorporation of feedback (on drafts) etc.
Series are a bit easier to do because they're published "serially" (as the word series implies) and you need not go "back" to refactor previous sections/chapters/pages. Blogging is, after all, a chronological series of posts, there are no revisions or "editions".
Writing about abuse (against women in particular) isn't easy. Even if the author is female (firsthand account), there are elements of trauma, fear, and so on. Feedback before and throughout will be necessary.
In the case of the EPO, we'll soon tackle racism.
In the case of the RMS 'culture wars', we'll deal with all sorts of nasty politics.
In the case of the hired guns, we'll be dealing with crime and corruption (it's basically reputation laundering for particularly malicious people).
Two years ago my wife wrote:
The truth will come out and the truth will prevail so that the public and people in FOSS circles will see this.
Indeed, the truth will come out. The evidence will come out. Over time, people will see what really went on.
I "feel" for RMS because in many ways he's being subjected to the same abuses Daniel Pocock and yours truly (and family members) got subjected to, sometimes due to the very same people or groups. In relation to the EPO, we're going to show mobbing - some of it overlapping the sorts of observations to be made about RMS, including the closeted antisemitism.
The 3 series will take 1-2 months to complete; throughout the series we shall also contact authorities, seeking their involvement, which is well overdue. The series is well timed because SLAPPs are back in the headlines (people demand reform) and the SRA is under fire this month. █
