Coming Soon: Evidence of Abuse in Our IRC Network
The IRC network of irc.techrights.org as of this week:

IRC, by default, isn't just an open protocol but an open network setup anybody can access very easily. Most IRC networks do not demand authentication and/or don't restrict who can create an account to authenticate. That means that IRC channels aren't difficult to spam or abuse.
5 years ago (it'll be exactly 5 years in a couple of months' time) we moved to our very own network for IRC. That means that attacking our community wasn't as simple as "/join #techrights" in Freenode, then assaulting people verbally or impersonating people (to defame them).
IRC's freedom can sometimes be its 'weakness' if not properly guarded; as happened this past Christmas Eve. â–ˆ
