No need to reinvent myself
Seniors are sometimes advised to reinvent themselves. After retirement some people have a feeling of lost identity, or believe their best years are behind them.
Unrelated to age
----------------
You can always reinvent yourself, that doesn't depend on your age at all. It all comes down to attitude, and the willing to take some risk. I am no stranger to that, during my carrier I have changed roles several times, experiencing the feeling I should have done that sooner.
I have always felt that the willingness for lifelong learning is essential.
Of course, no matter what, it is important to stay mentally active and engaged. Just like it is important to stay physical active.
But for that, I currently can do a lot without the need to reinvent myself.

writer's block
A writer's block, according to Calvin, is a block that you put on your desk and it keeps you from writing. That comic strip must be a few decades old, because technology has done a lot of progress since then. Today, I have a high-tech version of a writer's block on my desk. It's not exactly a block, but a slim rectangle that unfolds to reveal a glowing rectangle and a keyboard, and which incorporates the latest advences in semiconductor technology. Those differences aside, it serves the same purpose as a traditional writer's block. Only it is infinitely programmable, at least in theory.

NVIDIA Announces End-of-Life for the Jetson AGX Xavier, Xavier NX Families
NVIDIA has announced that the entire Jetson Xavier line-up, including the Jetson Xavier NX and Jetson AGX Xavier system-on-modules, are approaching their end-of-life — and has already officially discontinued their development kit variants.
Unveiled around eight years ago, and described at the time as NVIDIA's first computer designed specifically for powering smart robotics, the Xavier modules were entries in the Jetson family of embedded systems-on-modules. The first Jetson AGX Xavier modules were joined a year later by the smaller and lower-power Xavier NX modules, dropping from an eight-core CPU and 512-CUDA/64-Tensor core Volta GPU to a six-core CPU and 384-CUDA/48-Tensor core GPU while slashing the memory in half.

limiting internet - week 2 update
changed up my methodology this week, as to not track things all day. i decided on an hour of internet in the morning and evening, backgammon during my coffe time, and a no-internet profile on the laptop at all other times. well, low-internet. no videos or social media, or any other Accounts. internet is allowed for Tools when necessary (dictionary, dvorak practice etc) or playing music or ambient noise. the account is mostly for writing and reading. feels better so far. the 2h per day sometimes feel like too much (yay!) and the separate profile definitely makes me feel less "on the internet". maybe sometime in the future i'll whittle it down further but so far it doesn't seem unreasonable considering it's for All Possible Activities, from important tasks, through socializing, to random fun and surfing.

Thoughts on Ensmallening the BigWeb
I'm not motivated to ditch the fediverse, I see nothing wrong with it, and continue to derive enormous benefit from it. Everyone who's fedi-fed-up is right to feel that way—I just haven't experienced the same difficulties, myself, and far too many positives. Maybe it helps that the vast majority of feeds I follow, are retro-computer/game related? :D And programmers who aren't big into vibe-coding.
I have no intentions of fully ditching the web, either. It meets many bonafide needs that gemini was deliberately designed not to meet. Nor does Geminispace really appear to be attempting to position itself as a viable replacement for the web (nor for Gopher). It happily lives alongside them, and thus makes a great haven/alternative, but few indeed could remotely consider using it exlusively.

CalvusRex
Curious, how many of you have actually totally ditched the web, federation, etc for solely smolweb tech? I don't think I can, but really want to.

Rust Dependencies
I was curious to know what it takes to build a small Rust project. The following cargo command lists, recursively, all the dependencies - without drawing a tree, so that it can be sorted and deduplicated. The grep command further deduplicates.
