Summary: Microsoft withdraws support for versions of Windows that many businesses still use

MICROSOFT is having a hard time, both financially [1, 2, 3, 4] and technically. Despite the lies from Microsoft, Vista 7 is not selling so well and after massive layoffs Microsoft seemingly lacks enough engineers to maintain older versions of Windows. "Microsoft slams nails in Windows Vista, XP SP2, 2000," says this news report.

Microsoft will kill support for its unloved Windows Vista operating system a few months ahead of its Windows XP SP2 and Windows 2000 planned end-of-the-road-for-updates deadline.

Windows 2000 has actually not received important patches for quite some time. To an extent, the same is true for XP. ⬆
