WE will soon publish something about Microsoft's financial state, which was never as healthy as the company wished us to believe. It's based on deception, exploitation, and 'creative' accounting. For instance, Microsoft hides its demise using outsourcing tactics. It also hides layoffs this way (end of contracts) and grossly underpays people.
"Microsoft serves Donald Trump agenda from its bent knees and many people alleged -- perhaps correctly -- that Amazon didn't get JEDI because Trump was and still is upset at Jeff Bezos."Recently, or as recently as late on Friday, many headlines spoke about Microsoft becoming not just the vassal of ICE (racist detention camps and worse) but also the Pentagon. We've long viewed that as the company's survival strategy (leaning on the massive military spendings of of the US). But it is misguided and short-sighted. Even Google -- at times notorious for its ties to the Pentagon (this has been well documented) -- refused to bid for JEDI though the tender may have seemed technically suitable. Some say that foreseeing the public backlash and seeing employees' reaction to existing Google scandals (e.g. expansion to China the same way Microsoft already did a long time ago) Google decide to "do no evil" -- even if that motto is no longer applicable (it hasn't been for decades, but they made that formal only a few years ago).
We want to remind readers that this is part of a very clear pattern. Microsoft is metaphorically giving Trump a shoe-shine job. Microsoft serves Donald Trump agenda from its bent knees and many people alleged -- perhaps correctly -- that Amazon didn't get JEDI because Trump was and still is upset at Jeff Bezos.
"We've long complained -- repeatedly in fact -- that the Foundation outsources almost all its projects to Microsoft GitHub which is proprietary software (in exchange for bribes from Microsoft/GitHub)."Earlier today we saw this tweet which said: "So doesn’t GitHub have open contracts with ICE? Also nobody asked me for permission to use my face here. Which means I also assume they neglected to ask the original author of the photograph. Maybe next time we could ask folks before sticking their face on a slide?"
Notice this response: "If you have a GH account, their TOS will state they can use your avatar for anything iirc."
Separately, noted another person: "40 million open source developers on GitHub. All depending on a single proprietary platform to collaborate. Monocultures are bad, and critical at this scale. We have an incredible risk and single point of failure of a single organization." (with the hashtags #OSSummit #OpenSource of the Linux Foundation)
We've long complained -- repeatedly in fact -- that the Foundation outsources almost all its projects to Microsoft GitHub which is proprietary software (in exchange for bribes from Microsoft/GitHub). This in its own right says a lot about the Foundation and the direction it has taken, more so in recent years.
"Later they try to lecture us all on "diversity"/"manners" and give Torvalds "training" for a month."Take note of these new observations from Benjamin Henrion [1, 2]: "A pull request to fix Democracy in Spain #catalonia #tsunamidemocratic https://github.com/github/gov-takedowns/pull/8 … Microsoft's Github censors Catalonian Tsunami Democràtic app so that people cannot download the Android apk https://www.elconfidencial.com/tecnologia/2019-10-29/github-bloquea-tsunami-democratic-aplicacion_2305027/ … #deletegithub #iran #democracy"
The 'new' Microsoft right there for you...
Imperialistic, racist, totally not inclusive. As we stated before, the Foundation's use of GitHub is against the Foundation's own spirit not only because it's proprietary but because it renders the Foundation -- indirectly -- racist and exclusionary. Later they try to lecture us all on "diversity"/"manners" and give Torvalds "training" for a month. Because he's scoffing at people who repeatedly push bad code (and they're usually male actually, but the media painted a very different picture one year ago). ⬆
