Summary: EPO whistleblowers are needed (people with access to various communications, documents and verifiable words from the grapevine); today we remind -- for the first time in video form -- how to safely (on a relative scale) tell us stuff and send us stuff

A LOT of the leaks we receive are about the EPO, but not all of them concern patents and corruption. Habitually we receive leaks from companies like Amazon and Microsoft. Sometimes we receive communications from people who know Bill Gates in person. Either way, to run a site like ours it's important to be able to speak with people confidentially and for some people to reach us anonymously.

It mostly focuses on how to transmit information to us through our IRC network. The short story is, be aware of what IP address you are using, be careful not to reveal personally-identifying information (it's best if we too don't know who you are; we only need to know the material/information is provably authentic), and don't discuss this with other people. We still enjoy a perfect source protection record; we intend to keep it that way. Help us keep it that way. Be cautious and never brag to colleagues or friends about leaking (a very common mistake; they have a lot less to lose than you).

An associate reminds EPO examiners that what truly counts is the EPC, not corrupt management that's constantly scheming the violate the EPC. It is "important to mention that quantity-over-quality is harmful and defeats the purpose of a patent office which," according to the associate, "is about weeding out bad patents at the application level [...] passing that on to the courts merely to skim money burdens the courts unnecessarily and obviates the need for a patent office even." ⬆
