Jim Whitehurst Promoting Microsoft Mono for a Living
Pushing .NET harder than Mark Shuttleworth does
THE former CEO of Red Hat, Jim Whitehurst (sometimes we call him Allowhurst because Red Hat deems the word "white" racially sensitive, or so the 'suits' insist when it suits their community-shaming agenda), became the chief of Unity, a company we've long criticised for pushing Mono (even long before Mono was directly controlled by Microsoft). He hasn't really said anything yet, but he seems like a "crisis manager", as the company upset almost everyone, ranging from gamers to game developers.
Jim Whitehurst was always nice to me over E-mail, but he distanced himself from "difficult" subjects, including software patents. It's 'unfortunate' (an understatement to say the least) that after a couple of years at IBM he's just promoting Microsoft nonsense. █
