Humbling Experiences
Life is, as we all know, a life-long learning experience. It can be smoothed out for sure, so one does not learn as much, because learning at my current age is quite painful. But still, I seek it out for some reason.
[...]
Changing job is painful because you go from knowing what you're doing, being on top of everything, and feeling a (somewhat made up) sense of being needed, to total newbness, perhaps a new programming language, entirely new context, and new colleagues to which you have to prove yourself once more.
[...]
Being married means spending a lot of time with a person who knows you well they will be able to, with great accuracy, point out all of your limitations and flaws, even the ones you did not know about yourself. Marriage has many good parts but I feel pain from this, but I know it's the right thing.

A newcomer
Bartender! A cup of Darjeeling for me please. Well hello everybody, I have finally been granted access to the midnight pub, so first of all I need to thank m15o for creating this cozy space on the internet, and keeping it up! I also have a space on the smol pub, but I missed the community aspect where I can answer to posts and have people answer mine.

What...for?! š
Dark. Wet. Aching. I wasn't enjoying my cycle home. I barely noticed the people crossing the road as I passed. Then I heard the small child speaking earnestly.

Re: Binary blinkers
Right. Great post.
When I argue for degrowth the word I prefer to use is āsustainabilityā since that more clearly indicates that itās not about mindless destruction; itās about stewardship of limited resources.
Iām for degrowth if sustainability is whatās meant by it. [Iām glad that people are trying to go to space] but the flimsy house of nothingness that capitalism has built on the lie of fossil fuels is gonna collapse and the only cure is working with sustainability in mind.

Denying the ML antecedent
Normally going online and into the liāl echo chamber created by my steady stream of blocks is cozy & comfy because everyone is sane about everything (climate, bodily autonomy, criticizing capitalism, eating plants, etc) and sometimes I even learn new things (like how bad cryptocurrencies are, and yes, they're super bad).
One recent hot topic where I started out in full agreement because my initial take was also super negative is ML & generated art. But Iām a liāl scared that the steady stream of super bad arguments and outright misinfo will gradually push me into a more pro-ML-stance.

Unkind
I've always been very much interested in technical subjects such as math and programming. But recently my interest in these subjects has been very weak. I still have an interest, but every time I try to dive into any of these I just don't feel that interested. At the start of the year I did get involved with scheme and with operating systems, and currently I am still somewhat interested in learning more about low level programming and the Linux kernel. But every time I think of these things I think a better use of my time would be in developing my learning of languages, more on that later. Besides the usual topics of math and programming I have a few other interests, mainly in science. There is physics, which I suspect would be a very useful thing to know, also with electricity and electronics, and I have a few things I would like to do with it, such as a rain-powered generator. But, being in nature and working with plants, I am more drawn towards the life sciences, especially ecology, and as a sort of ancillary subject, chemistry. But still, all these subjects take the back seat as my main interest in languages takes most of my time.

Genuine Spaces
I've been on an Old School RuneScape kick. I started playing in 2007 when I was in third grade, and here I am, 17 years later, still playing. There's a saying in the community: "you don't quit, you just go AFK." Well, I relapsed.
In case you're not familiar with OSRS, a "world" is an instance of the game. Players on the same world can see each other in-game. Players on different worlds cannot. Helps distribute players among servers. For superficial reasons, World 420 is one of the more popular worlds. The fact that it's gated by 1,500 total level in the game, usually a few hundred hours of playtime, is a coincidence, but it keeps the bots out. But the result is interesting: a digital space with a thousand or so people almost completely separate from the bots and advertising. It's like a chatroom with a game attached.

Quick Update: AuraGem Search Now Crawls Nex
Note that since the crawler just started running, it may not have all of nexspace yet. Spartan support is coming soon. However, there may not be another devlog update when that is added since this is my last AuraGem project for Geminispace, so keep a look out for changes on the AuraGem Search Engine page, or the AuraGem GitLab repo.
