IBM Layoffs at Kyndryl

Little gardener

This is an hour old: (nearly end of the week)

Got the call today.. no info on severance and no info on how long I'll be on the bench. Wondering if it's because of my age? Anyone else get the call today?

Also:

Is IBM going to compete with Kyndryl in the race to lay off more productive employees this quarter ? There are less than 30 days to the end of Q2 2024. Will it be the incompetent but highly compensated IBM and Red Hat managers and executives who will be shown the door this time, and which most of them rightly deserve for their failures in sales and innovation ? The IBM death spiral and toxic management culture started with Palmisano, Rometty and Krishna and continues to this day. Or did it start with the McKinsey consultants that IBM hired in the late 1990s to bring globalization to the company and give all IBM US employees a higher productivity through unemployment? Certainly Granger and PwC had a hand in this mess too with their outsourcing (and H1B scams) to lower cost countries like India. Maybe nickel and diming (like the incompetent Nickel of HR) doesn't work after all. Is there any point in saving the jobs of the corrupt and morally bankrupt executive management that runs inside IBM ? Not by a long shot. After all, it's all about generating shareholder value, which is most important.

This can soon spill over to Red Hat, but people online say that the signal from Red Hat that it was seeking to reduce headcount already convinced many to resign/jump ship on their own. There are many H.R. tricks to disguise layoffs as "great resignation", e.g. R.T.O.
