Don't Become (or Remain) IBM's Slave

posted by Roy Schestowitz on Jul 28, 2024

Just noted: IBM's Vicious Attack on CentOS Has Left CentOS Forums Dead

I volunteered a lot! IBM: You were just my slave

THE company that says you cannot use words like "master" and "slave" (even though it had pioneered these terms in the computing context, promoted their use, and still uses them) wants us not to pay attention to the nature of its relationship with the community. It strives to limit people's vocabulary or ability to express themselves. Nazi Germany did exactly the same thing.

There's a new NFT for IBM slaves. Nobody even got it. Volunteers are barely involved anymore and Planet Fedora is almost dead.

Fedora Mentor Summit 2024

There was a time when badges were granted to lots of Fedora volunteers and Planet Fedora had almost a dozen updates a day. The whole nature of the relationship has changed and IBM even hired lawyers to litigate against unpaid volunteers. IBM's priorities are simply different.
