The Curse (to Microsoft) of the Faroe Islands
Months ago: Faroe Islands: GNU/Linux Climbs to All-time High of 4%
Windows is apparently minority market share in the Faroe Islands now, even on laptops (or desktops). ChromeOS grew, Apple grew. Adding mobile to the mix, Windows was measured as low as 8% and Edge at below 2%. Windows as a "cash cow" is dying. "Hey Hi" (AI) you say? Massive losses.
Faroe Islanders seem to have lost interest in Microsoft and Windows, as did the servers market.
The common factor there seems to be Apple. Many Apple customers there, both on mobile phones and laptops. Why? Money. The World Bank says GDP per capita there is 66,979.28 US dollars (2022 estimate), not much shier than Norway's 87,961.78 (2023 estimate) and Denmark's 67,967.38 (2023 estimate). In Norway this month GNU/Linux is measured at around 20%.
