Drehgriffel
What is a Drehgriffel, eh? Well it is a type of mechanical pencil which uses a twist action to propel the lead out of the tip. It is also the name used for a particular pencil model from a favourite stationary company, Leuchtturm 1917.
Leuchtturm have a set of pens and pencils which are based around a model from the 1920s. The number 1 is a gel or ball point pen and the number 2 is the propelling/mechanical pencil.
I have looked at these for a while and thought about it. Well I made the mistake of looking at a stationary website which was in the midst of a sale. Following the success of the colour ranges for the notebooks, the pencils and pens are also available in a wide range of interesting colours. I saw the Deep Sea colour and it became a buy. The colour is dark greeny blue with dark grey ends. It looks nice both in photos and in person.

Why Multiclassing SUCKS (and how I want to fix it)
So multiclassing as a concept sounds REALLY cool in videogames or TTRPGS, but then you realise it's a big nothing burger, its more just you have 2 separate classes at the same time?
Taking D&D for an example (just because that's probably the easiest comparison for most people to make) If I take a Rogue and multiclass into Warlock, these two classes don't do anything to help each other innately, you just have skills from both that if you're lucky have synergy. That SUCKS so bad, it makes it hard to feel cool about anything to do with multiclassing.
The way I would like to see it (and is also kind of existent within some of the heroic skills in the TTRPG Fabula Ultima) is that multiclassing gives you a new single named class. For example, in a project I'm now vaguely working on, The main character starts as a Knight. pretty basic, pretty normal. By the end of the tutorial prologue section the aim is to unlock the multiclass aspect of the game and join it with a druidic style class to become part of the knightly order of that realm (In this case the class reflects that with the name of "Goldenberry Knight"

Welcome Home...
Sorry it's been such a long time... I mean, as if my following here is that big anyway. BUT we are finally settling into our short term rental in Ireland. Our house in the states was sold in December, and hubby hopped the pond in early December to get us established. I stayed behind to get the house emptied out. Not gonna lie, that was a major chore that I'm just now recovering from.
But long way around, we are here, getting used to the place, and really enjoying just slowing down and living life a bit.

Computer Science and Capitalism
I've always been drawn to computers, probably like a lot of people on here.
However I feel like it's the most corporate domain out there. I feel like if I wanna work with computers, I have to work in a big company or in a startup, serving the great Capitalism. I just wanna find a work where I'm not used to enrich people I hate.

Command Line: The Next Generation of My Workflow with Vim and kitty
In my previous post I mentioned that I have tried to make myself love Vim for a long time. I've read books and posts about it, watched courses, practiced a lot, but still, most of my Vim use tends to be quick edits on my rc files in my laptop or in one of my Raspberry Pi servers. I do know my basic commands and moves, and some not-so-basic ones, but still, I find it counterintuitive to use a terminal as my main driver at work or even for personal projects. But that seems to be changing now.

LoRa
The Reticulum network is an amazing design for networking that requires encryption, avoids a "source address" for connections ensuring privacy, mediates flow-control by the destination (avoiding DoS attacks), has only a few bytes of packet overhead making it work over low-bandwidth connections like LoRa, eliminates any central control or authority (like DNS, Certificate Authorities, ISPs, etc.) making the network unstoppable, completely self-configuring and is so lightweight it can run on micro-controllers making it hacker/maker friendly. This looks like how the internet should have been designed, and is surely it's future. Also a great way to network your IoT sensors. #reticulum #networking #lora #maker #hacker #iot
