UK High Court Masters Are Not Your Jesters, Microsoft

posted by Roy Schestowitz on May 27, 2025

Judges aren't there for "funny" spectacles, they're there to act as arbiters in critical cases, not SLAPPs

Over the years we repeatedly discussed [1, 2] this incredibly tactless public post, which remains online until now. It says: "Lawyers are expensive do I know any in England who would do something nominally expensive but mostly funny for a reduced rate" (notice the word "funny"*):

Lawyers are expensive do I know any in England who would do something nominally expensive but mostly funny for a reduced rate

He should know it is expensive, as the spouse went through this before:

Legal Defense

To somehow imply that filing such cases against my wife and against me would be "funny" is an insult to the very system (in another continent, worse or more notorious than in the US) he seeks to leverage. And failing that, he then joined forces with a Microsoft person who strangles women. He basically decided that since one SLAPP wasn't enough (it backfired badly [1, 2]) he would raise some money from Microsoft (salaries) to file another SLAPP using the exact same barrister and lawyer, who appears to be leaving the firm after a serious complaint was filed with British authorities.

Stay classy.

* The Master in this case is well aware of the problem with costs budgeting; the Microsofters aren't trying to win these 'cases' (SLAPPs) but to merely exhaust the funds of the other side - clearly a classic hallmark of abusive litigation, which would likely result in severe penalties.
