Microsoft is a Problem Not Just for Denmark
Yesterday we wrote about Denmark dumping Microsoft and said it should also dump GAFAM, which extends to Android and probably ChromeOS. Dumping Microsoft ASAP is good practice in light of US threats to Danish territories, but will that go far enough? We said that what matters is 1) software freedom and 2) open/free formats. Moreover, there's the question about who physically controls the systems and who develops the software. "EU OS" is too close to IBM (US).
Microsoft lost dominance not only in Denmark but also in the Faroe Islands and Greenland.
Leaving Microsoft behind is the right thing to do, not just for political reasons but also technical reasons.
This policy makes sense not only for Denmark. Every country should consider what Denmark is doing, why Denmark is doing it, and then do the same. █
