What statCounter Shows Today Helps Explain Microsoft's Helplessness, Mass Layoffs
Having done a number of quick articles about Web-derived statistics (Windows is down), consider what Microsoft is preparing to say. It'll reuse the old lie of "hey hi" (slop) "investment" or slop replacing workers (that started again over the weekend; many slopfarms said Microsoft forces everyone to do slop) in order to avoid admitting that Microsoft as a business is failing and running out of profitable things. Skype was killed, like many other things before it had been killed, but what's left to cut? Salaries. People.
People who invest in the company that claims to "invest" in hype (while not really investing; it's instead shutting down data centres) will find out they got conned and defrauded. They already did that with XBox. LLM slop helped perpetuate the lies.
Microsoft will lie a lot today (via the usual proxies) about the scale/scope and the cause/s of the mass layoffs. Since many US journalists are already away on holiday almost nobody will dare ask the difficult questions or give a voice to whistleblowers. The slopfarms will dominate with fake coverage, based on Microsoft-seeded false figures and phony excuses. LLMs are disinformation multipliers. █
