The 4th
Yesterday was July 4th in the US, and as has become a tradition for me over the past few years, I watched the fireworks on youtube. It's a bit sad maybe, but I saw that others from around the US were doing it, too. An added bonus was that I didn't have to squeeze myself onto the train to get home aftwards.

What a strenuous day!
Junior woke up early today which in turn leads to us waking up early (mostly to the sound of something crashing down and his manic laughter). Well, as we are already awake and the chances that he would go back to bed where near zero we decided that we just roll with it and start our day.
We had quiet a bit planned for today! At first we needed to do our normal saturday routine (cleaning the house, doing groceries and so on), after that we began to tackle our ever denser growing jungle in the front of the house.

Forcing a round Fate into a square blorb
The Fate RPG was created to make interesting outcomes even with an improvised situation without needing to prep first whereas the whole idea of blorb is to have prep.
Ergo, when trying to use the Fate rules together with a blorbier prep, something’s got to give. It’s not inherently a good fit. And that can mean giving up on blorb principles and/or house-ruling Fate. Blorb is totally my jam so I tried to go for the latter.

tinylog
The tinylog is dead, long live the tinylog.
I have mixed feelings about the tiny log format, I don't think it particularly makes sense for free flow writing. While it does make sense for something like a changelog, or even for my use of it as a photo log. The changelog is very paradigm specific and each entry highly correlated to the last, and the photo log is mostly just the photo and clicking through to a single page with just one photo doesn't make much sense when you could link the photo directly if you wanted that.

new cert, old key
I've been using one form of lets encrypt or another for as long as its existed. Recently I setup a pretty cool way to get it to support wildcard subdomains on a registrar that doesn't actually support this but that's a story for another time. Today's tale is one of relearning how to do self signed certificates for the world of gemini.
When I first setup my gemini server, I used my main domain 8by3.net that was valid for ten years. That seemed like a long time. I used the following command to get a key and crt.
