The Cocaine Patent Office - Part III: European Patent Office Officials Cannot Claim False Identification

posted by Roy Schestowitz on Nov 01, 2025

As noted this morning, we'd like to press on with Part III [1, 2] despite being somewhat pressed for time.

Evidence of the true identity of the man arrested is below. Das Bild revealed the case; this morning we reproduced portions of the report ("Wiesn-Kokser muss 40.000 Euro Strafe zahlen"), which is sheltered behind a paywall.

Pay close attention to their main/feature photograph:

Luis Berenguer: High manager at the European Patent Office caught in public with cocaine

The article is behind a paywall, which isn't unusual for that site, but two images are freely accessible and are fair to reproduce. We reproduced the other one some days ago.

Compare to the following:

Luis Berenguer

These are the facial features (both frontal and rear).

He is the Communications head and Principal Director at the EPO. He's part of the António Campinos-led "mass import" from Alicante.

Not only does the photo show him wearing the same watch and a red strap on the left hand as in the Office (or Office visit). He wore that same set of clothes in another photo where his face is neither occluded nor pixelated.

At this stage for the EPO to attempt to deny it was him would be foolish and regrettable. Also, keeping him in his position would reaffirm the widespread notion that EPO leadership deems cocaine use acceptable for the very people whom run European's second-largest institution (and who previously held similar roles in Europe's largest, the EU).

What are EPO stakeholders supposed to think? What are EPO leaders signalling to stakeholders now?

Corroborating with other sources is always desirable if possible. We shall do so later in this series.
