What is "AI" (and What It Isn't)...
Those two letters (vowels), "A" and "I", have incredible power when conjoined
"AI" will create new jobs, they say
They stay study "AI"
They also say that many jobs are eliminated because of "AI"
They tell us that "AI" improves efficiency
They also tell us that "AI" takes to much energy that we've run out of energy
HP says it's laying off people in order to focus on "AI"
But it also says "AI" is the cause of these layoffs
Dell says that "AI" PCs aren't selling well
But Dell also says that sales will be fine because of demand for "AI"
Microsoft says it'll hire more people for "AI" skills
But it's also firing its workers who specialise in "AI"
Google's CEO says that "AI" might eliminate jobs
In practice, Google and its CEO merely rebrand many things as "AI"
Google says it's a leader in "AI" - a strategic area for growth
But Google also says it's doing "buyouts" (which is what companies call layoffs in the so-called "AI" era)
IBM is embracing the "AI" (alleged) revolution
But the news is in fact full of stories about companies that dump "AI" (including IBM's so-called "AI" products)
"AI"-related losses have never been greater (ever before)
But those losses are somehow "evidence" of "AI" becoming increasingly important
Maybe "AI" is just some go-to smokescreen. Maybe LLMs - and any type of chatbots for that matter - are in fact decreasing efficiently, falsely marketed, and doomed to disappoint every fool who got tricked into "investing" in them.
The I in "AI" stands for intelligence. LLMs do not contain and thus cannot convey any actual form of intelligence. █
