Microsoft Nigeria had mass layoffs. As (by far) the biggest population in Africa, Nigeria matters to Microsoft. It's a centerpiece of colonialism.
Having just revisited some figures, it seems like Microsoft's situation in Nigeria is not improving and adoption of Vista 11 has just gone down, not up. Moreover, in Nigeria, not even 1% (1 in 100 people) use Bing.
The bigger picture is, Google and Android dominate Africa. █
