Yesterday and today we saw rumours of IBM layoffs that allegedly intensify (not start) in 1-2 weeks, with a focus on B10 (band), probably based on narrow/selective information because the poster is a B10. Someone has since clarified that the focus on bands (pay grades) is misguided because IBM management looks at it differently:
There are two things that are well, well understood. First, many people other than B10s will be impacted. Second, and this is key, OP is a B10 and, as with all B10s, she (or he) made it about her (or his) particular cadre. You understand that, right?This is one of many problems with these schemers. The boat is sinking and they muscle their way through all the other people's children to claim the lifeboat for their clique. They never care who they hurt. Why would they? They are B10s after all.
Absolutely many people other than B10s will be hurt by this. But a B10 made 100% sure that the focus of this RA has to be about B10s and not the rest of the community. It's part of the mindset of being B10.

We expect that in early April, not long before IBM's so-called 'results', we'll see many people online signalling they're affected by RAs, with their "last day" being a few weeks later.
Such layoffs impact not only IBM "proper"; when Red Hat staff is impacted we don't see a mention of "Red Hat". █
