Intercontinental Brigading - Part XXV - Election Integrity at a Time of Back Doors and Very Severe Bugs in UEFI

posted by Roy Schestowitz on Oct 31, 2026

It was all along a Microsoft project that had nothing to do with security, it is a threat to national security

I need to be able to access every PC or server in the world to break or brick it, to spy on it; No problem, Mr. President, Restricted Boot will do that

There are more and more open clues that next week's election outcome - the midterms in the US - will be followed by tantrums and annulment attempts. Wait and watch how the results in the US will be challenged, either wholly (entirely, nationally) or piecewise (locally). Two approaches, which aren't novel, can be 1) discrediting the outcome (saying "Russian hack" or "Democrats"); 2) stealthily tampering by technical means.

(1) is connected to (2). The problem goes away if "Traditional Methods" are adhered to.

Expect a bit of both. Like noted in the last part, the FSF has a clear stance on this, which is consistent with its past position/s. Many NGOs rightly condemn electronic ballots, irrespective of the known security flaws. Elections have long worked just fine with pen and paper (or pencil and paper).

But it has been getting a lot worse in recent years because we know that Microsoft attacks judges (overseas) on behalf of the American dictator and even if they don't use Microsoft or Windows or Office/Microsoft 360, "thanks" to Matthew Garrett right now Microsoft also remotely controls GNU/Linux laptops, desktops, servers etc.

This month we know of severe holes connected to what Matthew Garrett has promoted for almost 15 years while trying to silence critics.

This inescapable problem cannot be overlooked and it's far from being addressed.

As our weekend parts are short (by intent=ion), we'll leave the more technical parts aside for later in this series.

Expect likely chaotic rants (if not violence) to ensue after Tuesday, as the dictator will find something to get angry about. He always controls and he already has access to (via Microsoft, "thanks" to Matthew Garrett) all the GNU/Linux servers and other machines that don't have Microsoft software on them.

We're going to discuss some of the technical means facilitated by Matthew Garrett for this 'turnkey tyranny', as this was covered in the past. I assembled many links about this in the past, especially in Daily Links or in Tux Machines.

Bullies like to censor their critics by lawfare, even in foreign continents. How dare British media comment on insurrection following a US election? █

'Fuck you vigorously with a chainsaw. Your continual whining and conspiracy theories have done more to encourage me to stab people to death than anyone else in recent history.' -Matthew Garrett
