While the media tried (or still tries) to frame Microsoft as "generous" by telling workers to leave... a blunt reminder of what really happens after a PIP ("silent layoffs" that may be the new hammer):

I was affected by the Microsoft January 2025 layoffs which were officially performance-based. I heard that a few months later, Microsoft implemented a 2-year rehire ban for employees let go for performance. Would that rehire ban affect me too?

IBM is still licking its wounds and the other former giant is shrinking fast - a whole lot faster than the media tells the public.
