THE GNU Operating System (a copyleft OS) turned 37 a few days ago. Today, or just over an hour ago, the FSF said it had turned 35 and there's this 35th anniversary event. In the FSF's own words: "Today, on October 4th, the Free Software Foundation (FSF) celebrates its thirty-fifth year of fighting for software freedom..."
"...Richard Stallman, the FSF's founder (and its long-running chief until last year), wants people to celebrate along with the FSF and generally support the FSF.""Online and via IRC in #fsf (on Freenode)," the FSF said, "[w]e will end in an online anniversary event featuring both live and prerecorded segments this Friday, October 9th, from 12:00 EDT (16:00 UTC) until 17:00 EDT (21:00 UTC)."
Techrights has been on Freenode since 2008. We're turning 14 a month from now. But today is the FSF's day to celebrate and Richard Stallman, the FSF's founder (and its long-running chief until last year), wants people to celebrate along with the FSF and generally support the FSF.
Long live, FSF. We're still supportive, even if we nitpick every now and then. Nobody and nothing can be perfect all the time. Last year's blunder was one example of that. ⬆
