Almost Nothing To Go With Your Morning's Cup Of Coffee
Newspaper? What newspaper?
THE news is so slow that Google News (which we have jokingly called Gulag Noise for a couple of years) has added many non-English items to English results. This is a relatively new phenomenon. For a number of months the New York Times was adding non-English articles to English news sections, which had already run low on material and sometimes included cooking recipes (as front page news). It's getting to the point now where Gulag Noise is basically noise. It's terrible.
This experience is shared by associates too. When it comes to news shortlisted for Daily Links, for instance, it may be only 2% to 5% of the news scrolled past (in relatively good RSS feeds) that end up being chosen. That means that as much as 98% of the news can be considered junk, either low quality or of low importance.
A couple of years ago we published many lengthy videos about how news regarding patents had virtually died. It not only lacked insight and depth; it was very scarce, too.
What can be done about this? Produce more, make up for the silence. █
