What we complained a lot about in recent years became a reality in recent months at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO):

USPTO Further Transitions to DOCX Format: abstract in a non-DOCX filing format will incur a surcharge of up to $400.

Hans and Franz: Y U NO USING MICROSOFT??

How is it even legal to virtually force people to use proprietary, patented formats of Microsoft (which not even Microsoft has really implemented)? How many times did Bill Gates need to visit US officials?
