Slopwatch: BetaNews and linuxsecurity.com Have Just Published More Fake 'Articles' About "Linux"

posted by Roy Schestowitz on Feb 02, 2025

As we said yesterday afternoon, "Slopwatch" will become a routine feature; we must call out the culprits, the Serial Sloppers.

Today's Slopwatch starts with Mr. Fagioli:

Ditch Microsoft’s Windows 11: Nitrux 3.9.0 is the faster, more secure Linux alternative you need

It's LLM slop, likely based on real articles. It's just rephrased by bot or something to that effect.

LLM slop: This Debian-based Linux distro, running on the Liquorix 6.12.11-2 kernel, is packed with performance improvements, security updates, and gaming enhancements that put Windows 11 to shame.

Authors that we spoke to hate Fagioli because he's perceived to be a BS artist. Maybe also ripoff artist.

Then there's this parasitic site, with yet another fake 'article' about "Linux":

A Tiny Linux Kernel Tweak with Massive Implications for Datacenter Efficiency

100% LLM slop, i.e. the usual:

LLM slop: Let's examine how this development significantly advances more efficient and eco-friendly computing without compromising security or performance.

There's probably more "Linux" slop out there, but we do our best to identify it on a daily basis. There are dormant sites that cross over to the dark side. They ruin the Web and distort knowledge by introducing fiction (manufactured by bots).
