Static Site Generators (SSGs) Made Techrights Better, Faster, Easier to Manage
Keep things simple.
To day we spoke about how we used to back up the site. We then compared it to the current routine. The current setup is so much better than WordPress with mysqldump (for MySQL or MariaDB). It's not only faster, it is also far more robust.
An associate lamented: "I think the overhead for operating the SSG has been much lower especially in the amount of attention it needs. The CMS [WordPress] needed all kinds of attention, which is a limited resource."
Today we're finally back to our old routine and pace (see page) because all sorts of overheads and tasks are set aside, which means we can focus on what we really want to do, not what others want us to do.
Judging by the workflow in the sister site as well, SSGs are far better to work with and also to maintain. SSGs not only take less effort to write in; they're faster to back up and there's less hassle associated with software updates (which WordPress became notorious for, among other factors).
Consider adopting SSGs if you still use a CMS such as WordPress. You'll come to regret it if you postpone a transition. Such a transition would make any site more robust to DDoS attacks, too. █
