From GNU/Linux Boosting to Slop-Boosting Career

posted by Roy Schestowitz on Jan 05, 2026

After 17 years with LinuxToday and other sites of InternetNews.com (as Contributing Editor, then Senior Editor) Sean Michael Kerner left - maybe got pushed out - and eventually ended up at VentureBeat, where instead of focusing on GNU/Linux (as he had done for many years prior to that) he wrote about "AI", sometimes issuing puff pieces about/for Microsoft. The issue here is, pretty much everything he publishes now has slop images and the topic is also slop. The latest:

Sean Michael Kerner articles

Sean Michael Kerner articles

The point isn't the images though; almost all the articles are "AI" something.

To see a real (non-slop) image one must go about half a year back, only to find some puff piece about slop, i.e. the usual:

Lessons learned from agentic AI leaders reveal critical deployment strategies for enterprises

It is sad to see someone who devoted many years of his life producing GNU/Linux stories stooping down to this "AI" boot-licking, but one can guess who or what funds this.
