PIPocalypse at IBM
Silent layoffs
2 months ago: PIP Apocalypse (PIPocalypse) at IBM, CEO Promotes Vapouware (Lying to Shareholders)
Earlier today we said we had observed a ton of IBM departures. None of these seemed wilful, it felt like the few who spoke about it in public were self-censoring and generally dissatisfied. This is thelayoff.com in the past few hours (new topics only):

That's just one site and only those who are open about it (in English). Looking at those hours-old threads, there's more of the same in "metoo" form:

Young people not spared:

They say nearly a sixth of IBM's workforce is marked "LP" (Low Performer) this year. It's a quota mandated from up above. Let that sink in.

The bottom line is, if you're a high performer with praise, accolades (and good track record) and in spite of it IBM puts you on a PIP, then you have no chance, you're done! They probably want to eject you due to cost-cutting, nothing to do with performance. The PIP ceremony is about skirting the WARN Act (optics for shareholders) and avoiding severance payments. █
