- CrunchBang Linux 8.04.02 Release Notes
I have released a couple of new images for my CrunchBang Linux project. This new release brings CrunchBang Linux up-to-date with packages available from the 8.04.01 point release of Ubuntu. The new images have been completely rebuilt from scratch and feature a whole bunch of changes.

Myth 1: "Wine is slow because it is an emulator"

Myth 2: "Wine is bad for Linux"

Myth 3: "Emulators like VMWare are better"

Myth 4: "You need Windows anyway"
[...]
Myth 5: "Wine is bad, Winelib is better"
[...]
Myth 6: "Wine will always be playing catch up to Windows and can't possibly succeed at running new applications"

I reported a stable 20 MB/s upload in my last post. Forget that, it’s a stable 40 MB/s now that I’ve got no compile or torrent rehash running in the background. And download speeds are at a stable 60 MB/s — I believe that’s pretty close to what the hard drive I’m downloading to can do.
This is just incredible. It’s still the same hardware, but the new system could run circles around my old setup.
