Summary: Techrights will start sharing links to sites of interests (including itself)

AS MANY people ought to know, Digg recently launched a new version of the site. Previous versions of it went the wrong way and trolls contributed even more to the demise of the site, at least as a technology Web site.

Back in the days I was the most prolific GNU/Linux poster in that site (many people still remember me best for my UNIX/Linux contributions there). Here is my first triumph, which dates back to the site's puberty, well before the site took a tumble, especially for GNU/Linux proponents [1, 2]. The site's technology section is still dominated by fans of Apple, but together we can hopefully change that. If many GNU/Linux users visit this site, then naturally the landscape can change, no cheating involved. It's a users-driven site.

Resentment from the Free software folks surged when Digg signed a deal with Microsoft, only to drop it years later (takeover rumours involving Microsoft existed too).

I never denied being a Digg critic ("tough love" as it's called), even when I was ranked 17^th in the entire site (among over a million registered users). Criticism is the path to improving something.

Anyway, yesterday I took a look at the new Digg (a controversial new version which led some people to defecting to Reddit) and I actually quite liked it, so Techrights will have presence there from now on. Our readership continues to grow here this month, but we are still a niche Web site targeting mostly GNU/Linux users and collaborating for everyone's benefit. ⬆
