Microsoft-Connected Publisher Spinning XBox's Death Spiral (It's Dying Fast) as a Strength and Something Deliberate
No, this isn't "Microsoft’s big gaming pivot"; it's Microsoft failing, then trying to rebrand streaming or Windows PCs as "XBox".
9 hours ago a publisher that Microsoft has long utilised to seed and spread lies (e.g. about layoffs) said that "Microsoft’s big gaming pivot" is a way to describe the sales of XBox plunging by about 70% in one year and lots of workers being laid off, with many more on the way next month (they brace for impact, joining workers' unions this month).
Microsoft did not choose for XBox to die. XBox dying isn't a Microsoft "strategy" or "pivot". It's just another Microsoft failure, one among many others.
Many different metrics suggest that XBox is a thing of the past and buying a massive company to fake revenue increases in "XBox" is rogue accounting at best.
The reality of the matter is, next year might be the last year of (real) XBox. Here in the shops (Manchester) XBox is barely even stocked anymore; few people buy these. Based on online reports from throughout this year, it's not like this only in Manchester. Sooner or later Microsoft will halt production, not just pace it down (like Apple with Vision Pro). █
