Text is Still King
Chuck is no king. Text is king.
As noted in the sister site (along with some old supportive links), a long time ego ESR wrote: "For you, my friend, I have three words. Content, content, and content. Give the audience a reason to care. Too many web pages are like tales told by idiots, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing. Do you want to be interesting? Then forget the graphics and the glitz. First and foremost, have something to say."
In Geminispace, or beyond the World Wide Web (WWW), all that matters is the textual content.
For technical writing and for general prose, text should always be sufficient. Screenshots that contain text can typically be reduced to just text. Photographs can almost always be described in words (what they depict).
But the so-called 'industry' insists that we should download 10 MB of objects from multiple domains... even just to read 5-10 paragraphs of text. No, thanks. That's no way to get things done but to get distracted, fast. █
