One Last Battistelli Heist: Millions of Euros for Saint-Germain-en-Laye

Posted in Europe, Patents at 3:25 am by Dr. Roy Schestowitz

By sheer ‘coincidence’ (another one of those!) all the EPO budget will flow into the town where Battistelli is a politician just 3 weeks before his departure

Saint-Germain-en-Laye event

Summary: The tyrant who destroyed the EPO and built himself a palace using millions which were supposed to go to a contractor in another country is engaging in dubious financial affairs again (akin to his padrone, Nicolas Sarkozy, who has been charged with corruption)

THE EPO lacks a sense of humility and shame. The management is so deeply corrupt that it’s attacking anyone who dares point it out.

“The finalists will be announced on 24 April,” the EPO wrote yesterday about the European Inventor Award 2018 (warning: epo.org link) and the location can be confirmed. It says very clearly: “The next edition of the European Inventor Award will be held on 7 June 2018 in Paris, Saint-Germain-en-Laye.”

“SUEPO now points out that even his successor, whom he chose (another Frenchman with zero background in sciences), isn’t being trusted by stakeholders, based on a new JUVE poll. The culture of nepotism is almost assured to prevail.”That Battistelli takes EPO budget 'home' just 3 weeks before leaving isn’t new to us. We wrote about it before. That he’s leaving the EPO in ruins is also without doubt. SUEPO now points out that even his successor, whom he chose (another Frenchman with zero background in sciences), isn’t being trusted by stakeholders, based on a new JUVE poll. The culture of nepotism is almost assured to prevail.

Here’s the EPO (also yesterday) entertaining the lie that things are all fine and dandy at the Boards of Appeal, which Battistelli attacked repeatedly and viciously (even though he is not supposed to have any leverage over them). “Wrong issue. Wrong question,” I told them.

“The Boards of Appeal are under attack, primarily from Office tyrant Battistelli,” I continued. “Understaffed and lacking any independence at all…”

“The EPO remains a serial liar; but to make matters worse, watch how it’s misusing its budget. Will Battistelli be getting some ‘kickbacks’ for diverting EPO budget his town’s way?”The EPO just cannot stop lying about the Boards of Appeal almost every day if not every 2 days. They promote the concept that the European public is in control, but it’s really Battistelli who calls all the shots. Earlier this year, after he had driven the Boards to exile, he also kicked out one of the judges (Patrick Corcoran) out of the country with a demotion. He effectively spat at the face of ILO.

One last (re)tweet of interest from yesterday showed the Office aligned with Paul Ruebig, the liar who had pushed ACTA [1, 2] and is now assisting the EPO’s “we love SMEs” lie.

The EPO remains a serial liar; but to make matters worse, watch how it’s misusing its budget. Will Battistelli be getting some ‘kickbacks’ for diverting EPO budget his town’s way? We’re talking about a lot of money here; it’s almost 5 million euros in just one day — a massive ‘write-off’.

  1. Understanding Thierry Breton: Insider-Trading Scandal at EADS

Although Breton was not directly implicated in the insider trading scandal itself he did come under fire in 2007 for the role he played in a side-show to the main story, namely the payment of a generous € 8.5m severance package to Noël Forgeard when the EADS co-CEO was compelled to resign in June 2006.

There’s a strong push for software patents in Europe (basically fake European Patents on abstract ideas) and IAM leads/participates in it with help from OIN, Grant Philpott (EPO) and — maybe soon — Breton (EU)

  14. The Open Invention Network Has Become a Guard Dog of (Some) Patent Trolls and It Misrepresents Us Under the Guise of 'Open Source'

The Open Invention Network (OIN), in collaboration with Fraunhöfer, is promoting software patents and all sorts of other nonsense as part of ‘open’ standards in a new paper sponsored by the EU and edited by the former EPO Chief Economist Nikolaus Thumm (not Battistelli's choice); this is another reminder of the fact that OIN misrepresents Free/Open Source software (FOSS) developers and their interests

  22. Microsoft Doesn't Love Linux, It Just Buys Linux

Microsoft's takeover or abduction of its opposition's voice isn't an act of love but an act of occupation, a hostile colonisation that enables digital pillage and plunder

  23. Koch's Reply to EPO Through ILO and Techrights' Interpretation of Koch v EPO Documents Help Show That ILO-AT is Played by EPO Management

Sending cases back and forth, without the complainant being involved, means that justice is in eternal ‘limbo’ and thus the abusive management of the European Patent Office (EPO) — first Team Battistelli and now Team Campinos — can get away with anything the bullies do (no judgment of substance being delivered)

  24. EPO Running ILO's Tribunal (ILO-AT) 'in a Loop' to Perpetually Delay and Drain the EPO's Complainants (Aggrieved Staff) Out of Money

ILO’s Administrative Tribunal — a court for aggrieved EPO staff and other international organisations’ staff (usually known as ILO-AT for short) — is a major farce; when “time is money” and lawyers charge as much as 400 euros an hour the EPO’s management can exploit/misuse its cash reserves to also game justice and buy legal outcomes

  25. ILO is Not Functioning and ILO-AT Helps the Abusive Management of the European Patent Office

It is becoming increasingly clear, based for example on Koch v EPO, that ILO-AT is where a lot of money will be spent on lawyers and rarely will that result in real justice (but it certainly helps EPO management pretend that staff has safeguards)

  28. FOSSPatents Conference is Against FOSS, Promoting the FOSS-Hostile Construct Known as RAND or FRAND

Do not be misled by the term Free/Open Source software (FOSS) in the name FOSSPatents and whatever relates to it (e.g. FOSSPatents Conference); it's not about FOSS but against FOSS, or pro-FRAND

  29. Europe is Under Attack

European politicians or political candidates pretend to be 'candid'; but they're agents of Power, or put another way, they're there to make the rich and powerful class even richer and more powerful by passing new, ruinous laws in the name of 'the people' or 'for SMEs'
