Bonum Certa Men Certa

Inside the Free Software Foundation (FSF) - Part IX: Semi-Happy Ending

Free Speech and Free software

Summary: Richard Stallman is here to stay and the FSF will let him stay (as chief of GNU); we want to close the series on a positive note

IN part 8 we reminded readers that Bill Gates, who recently left Microsoft to become 'unelected politician' at a time of crisis, certainly benefited from defamation of Stallman. The media had a lot of people (mis)led to believe that Stallman had something to do with pedophilia when in fact it was Gates who was closely connected to it (arrest for pedophilia at his home, very close ties to Epstein and so on). The real MIT scandal had nothing to do with Stallman. It was about Gates and his close mate Epstein.

"We hope that Stallman will one day be reintegrated more and more into the FSF, at the very least by mention and by name."We'd like to close this series with some concluding words and an expression of hope. We hope that the FSF will settle and regain its reputation. Recently, in the 'COVID Edition' of LibrePlanet, Stallman was virtually present. This was a good sign.

We hope that Stallman will one day be reintegrated more and more into the FSF, at the very least by mention and by name. As the GNU Project's leader such a reintegration would benefit everyone. They ought to distance themselves from the likes of Gates, not Stallman. Yesterday the FSF published an April First prank about Clippy (Windows) and one of the FSF's interns contacted me a week after I had written about this incident. The messages were polite and amicable. Based on our understanding, Stallman is supported by most of the FSF's Board.

"We wish to thank the FSF (and GNU) for finding a way forward and Stallman's critics should always remember that the media narrative was largely bogus."Just over a month ago, when this post was made about LibrePlanet along with direct message-sending to the FSF, things were more intense. Back then there were still some flamewars on 'low fire' and few confrontations over Stallman's role in the Free Software Movement (FSM).

We wish to thank the FSF (and GNU) for finding a way forward and Stallman's critics should always remember that the media narrative was largely bogus. Perhaps time will reveal the full extent of the events of September 2019. For now, let's focus on getting through the 2020 plague.

Happy hacking.
