Microsoft's Latest Redmond Layoffs Exposed in WARN Act Disclosures (About 3,000 Already Laid Off in Seattle Alone)

2 weeks ago: Microsoft, Based in Redmond, is 'Exiting' Redmond Amid Layoffs and Other Troubles (Updatedx2)

6 weeks ago: In One City Alone Microsoft Fired Almost 3,000 Workers This Year (We're Still in March) (Seattle)

2 hours ago:

More layoff notifications for Redmond: 158 layoffs announced on the Washington state WARN site as of yesterday for Redmond, don't know about any others yet.

Actually, over 700 affected, effective late May (about a fortnight from now):

Find layoff and closure information on Washington State employers. Generally, the WARN Act requires companies with 100 or more employees to notify affected workers 60 days prior to closures and layoffs. Read the WARN requirements.

Summary: Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) requirements, as per the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act of 1988, mean that Microsoft's attempts to hide layoffs in the US are curtailed a bit (for workers who are not "temps" or contractors -- many of them are not "permanent" status and they're made redundant silently); there have been many Microsoft layoffs so far this week, but the mainstream media focuses only on "LinkedIn" while Microsoft slips out (or hands out) the pink slips; Portugal too is impacted [1, 2], but nobody in English-speaking media bothers covering that; Microsoft's "advertising" budget (bribes) keeps reporters on a short leash
