Libera Chat is a Toxic Troll Farm. Bonus: Code of Conduct Ticket Filed Regarding Fedora Moderator “Khaytsus”.

Libera Chat Is a Toxic Troll Farm Full of Corrupt Moderators That Don’t Apply Their Own Code of Conduct to Each Other.

I think it’s funny that our resident troll on Techrights IRC gave me an alternative name for Libera.

“Liberia” is the result of a series of coups and civil wars and has had a history of corruption and problems with rampant illiteracy.

That’s an adequate description of Libera Chat. Freenode wasn’t this bad before the alleged crown prince (of Korea, or so he says, although I doubt either the regime of North or South Korea is going to give him a participation trophy anytime soon).

It’s important to note that toxic individuals operating a troll farm and excluding themselves from their own Code of Conduct only applies to “Liberia” Chat. Their ban makes no difference anywhere else even if they could ultimately enforce it somehow.

That’s one reason why they want to replace IRC with something else. Then they can forcibly ban you from EVERY room on the service, because it’s all centralized, even if the room moderators don’t approve.

Authoritarians always want ultimate power and the last say on every decision.

So basically, “Liberia Chat” only has control of their own stinking corrupt network, and nothing else. If this was Discord, I could lose everything just because of one jerk, somewhere.

While it’s unfortunate that some people are on “Liberia” Chat and subject to the whim of some jerk that represents Red Hat and commits online harassment in their name.

For what it’s worth, I filed a Code of Conduct violation report against Khaytsus (Walter Francis).

We’ll see if that goes anywhere. MinceR on TechRights said expect total silence from IBM Red Hat about the online campaign of harassment and abuse committed by their moderator.

The accusations against Khaytsus include:

  1. Derogatory Comments: Making derogatory and insulting comments towards another individual, including statements such as “Wow man, lay off the meth,” “Seek help. Serious real medical help,” “Seriously, you need help,” and “Something has slid off your cracker.”

  2. Harassment: Engaging in behavior that implies drug abuse and mental illness, which could be considered harassment.

  3. Code of Conduct Violations: Violating the Fedora Code of Conduct by committing infractions such as making personal attacks, instigating conflict, engaging in public harassment, and making exclusionary statements.

  4. Online Abuse: Engaging in online harassment and bullying in the context of representing Fedora and Red Hat.

  5. Banning and Cover-Up: Banning the accuser and arranging a network-wide ban (k-line) to conceal their misconduct.
