Next Up: Restoring IRC Log Pipelines, Bulletins/Full Text RSS, Wiki (Archived, Static), and Pipelines for Daily Links
OVER 95% of the site's content is now fully accessible, restored not as database-dependent virtual pages but actual, static pages. This is what we've wanted for years.
Gemini had no downtime this past week and actually we now have two Gemini capsules, not just one. We'll work on merging them over time. Why two? The short story is, the new static page generator has its own Gemini back end.
So what next? Well, moments ago I hopefully fixed the automated uploads of IRC logs. They were getting across OK to Gemini and IPFS, but not to HTTP/S, due mostly to a migration away from CentOS to Debian and Alpine. Paths and keys changed.
Bulletins are a hard one to tackle because we need to rewrite our program; it assumes WordPress syntax as its input and we no longer use WordPress.
Some people asked us about full-text RSS feeds. It's not the top priority at the moment, but we heard and took note of the desire. The feedback is now in a long list of tasks.
Our wiki is nearly 15 years old already. It carries a long edit history and this history isn't particularly interesting as I was the main and sometimes sole person editing it, so we'll likely shelve the database with the full history and change over to static (but editable) pages instead.
There are still many tasks left ahead of us, but we've progressed a lot. The technical debt is being repaid. █
