Professor Eben Moglen Explained How Software Patent Threats Had Changed Around 2014 (Alice Case) and What Would Happen Till 2025
This talk aged reasonably well
IN Linux.conf.au or LCA 2015 (hosted in Auckland, New Zealand) Professor Eben Moglen gave a keynote talk (only 01:27-08:48 included above) that covered patents among many other legal issues. This neatly relates to thousands of articles we did about 35 U.S.C. § 101 (post-Alice at SCOTUS) and European software patents. We are very gratified to say that the threat, while still concrete, has been contained or curtailed somewhat. Assertion in courts is hard and many parties are hesitant to 'have a go at' (sue or threaten) Free software projects because of the massive public backlash it would entail. █
