Thanking Readers and Volunteers for the Support
THE sister site is turning 20 exactly 4 months from now and Techrights will turn 20 in 2026.
Since 2014 our foremost focus has been the EPO, whereas in the site's earlier years the focus was Novell, which was in turn connected to Microsoft.
Our community grew in recent years (we wrote about it last week) and the site has become more robust to censorship, which means it can more easily publish suppressed information from EPO insiders and all sorts of whistleblowers. We have secure and encrypted communication channels and there are people who help run the site 24/7. The same goes for our Soylent News friends.
It's Friday night here in the UK and I've exhausted all the news links at 4PM, which is unusually early. Sign of how dead news sites have become! I used to have to "play catchup" until Saturday evening (to fully check Friday's news) and now it's all done by Friday afternoon. This gives us more leeway and more time to do research, typically leading up to exclusive and original material.
As noted moments ago, eradicating software patents remains a key goal, which is very much related to what birthed this site (the patent collusion of Novell and Microsoft) and is also connected to Software Freedom.
We still have plenty of unpublished material to go through and verify. This year will be busy and fruitful. Behind the scenes many people work hard and take risks, especially whistleblowers, who rarely receive appreciation because their identities are unknown to the public. █
