Mozilla Sells Out, Will Serve Search Results From Microsoft (via Qwant)
Mozilla sells Firefox users to Microsoft. They're not the customers, they are the product. Microsoft is the upstream customer and so was (still is) Google.
A VERY long time ago I complained that after Microsoft had struck a "deal" with Yahoo (to serve results in the US and UK) Mozilla dared push this nonsense into default Firefox, in effect letting Microsoft spy on Firefox users and control what they were seeing.
Now Mozilla says: "Your tech choices matter more than ever." The title says "Empowering Choice: Firefox Partners with Qwant for a Better Web". Demanding proprietary software isn't the biggest issue with Qwant; they're close allies of Microsoft (they very openly boast about it, it's not a secret) and serve results from Microsoft. This is one among many examples (from microsoft.com
):
Feel free to research some more; Qwant is, at present, more or less a satellite of Microsoft.
Then again, Mozilla is a relic of a company. Mozilla is so corrupted that it now uploads its official documents though Microsoft proprietary spyware, mozilla.github.io (we saw that yesterday). As if Mozilla doesn't know how to serve documents from its own site! Quoting the latest from Mozilla:
Your tech choices matter more than ever. That’s why at Firefox, we believe in empowering users to make informed decisions that align with their values. In that spirit, we’re excited to announce our partnership with Qwant, a search engine that prioritizes user privacy and tracker blocking.
No, just like DuckDuckGo they're sending to Microsoft information about you is also sending the NSA et al the same. Mozilla has become a bunch of lying crackpots. █
