WebM: Julian Assange on the Right to Know
TRANSPARENCY is under attack. Publishing facts is spun as "espionage" by the US government and "treason" by the Russian government, to give two notable examples (this isn't limited to two nations that mutually show their hypocrisy). What does this mean to the rest of us?
This week we saw that in GNOME Foundation and in OFTC. If we can't speak, we lose. And even if we have the right to freely speak (but not necessarily to be heard; sometimes it's referred to as the right to having an audience/podium), sans risk of reprisal, what would we speak about if ignorance through secrecy is promoted if not imposed?
Julian Assange spoke about this a long time ago and it was brought back again by the Australian Assange Campaign about 24 hours ago. █
