There is No I in "GAFAM" and Soon There Won't be I At All (Like Novell Vanished, Not Overnight, as It Took Over a Decade)
Some new comments say POWER or Open(washed)POWER might be next to get the chop.
Intel is going through the biggest crisis in its entire history. The mainstream media isn't even trying to deny or downplay this crisis. Hours ago we learned that defective chip maker Intel "offers Irish employees voluntary severance packages up to €500K — chipmaker provides an alternative to layoffs [...] for those who volunteer to give up their jobs."
IBM is going through a similar crisis, which also involves a lot of workforce replacement (replacing experienced or "old" with young and "cheap").
We expect that in the coming decade - yes, about 10 years - there won't be much left of IBM and Intel. They're still around right now, but they've lost and are still losing most of their key people. They are feeding off what's left of their old clientbase and "legacy" products, just like Novell did 20 years ago. █
