Richard Stallman Still Deals With Politics
TODAY it's "9/11" again, which means that the homepage of GNU's founder looks like this:
It's like this every year with very small variations. This is what he's referring to [1, 2, 3].
Our article about the latest talk he gave has now been accessed over 2,000 times and last night we published a transcript. Mind this part, which he deals with the word "child": "Some US states are considering passing laws that platforms can't direct their recommendation engines to quote children unquote which means people it's not clear what age. They're not all actually children but the problem with that is these recommendations are dangerous for adults too. So you're not really solving the whole problem if you try to protect only children. But I'm not saying ban recommendation engines, I'm saying disconnect them from platforms so platforms can't dump recommendation engines on poor users, or on any user if the user doesn't choose it."
See, he's not afraid to mention how the word "child" gets twisted for political purposes, even after some phony scandals that attempted to paint him as a sexual predator.
Stallman's gonna Stallman. That's OK. █
