X Server Still Works for Many People
These tactics will backfire [1, 2], they will simply not work
Earlier this year GNOME people insinuated those curious about what happened to Sonny Piers were nazis or fascists or something along those lines, even though they themselves admitted that Piers had been wrongly judged. Put another way, they misframed the whole thing in misleading but self-serving ways. They tried to borrow political tensions, online polarity and divisive issues to alienate and demonise people whom they disagreed with on technical matters.
These tactics are doomed to fail for many reasons. If I use X and insist on still using X (the same for turning down systemd and pulseaudio) and then someone tells me that I do so because of some purely political stance, how is that going to make me feel?
A lot of people will grow suspicious of Wayland boosters/pushers if they persist and insist on using these tactics.
My PCs and my wife's PCs are stable and reliable not in spite of using X server but because of it. It is robust to certain kinds of crashes.
Some operatives of a company created by an actual Hitler fan won't change my mind about this. Just like Hitler, they don't care for people with disabilities (they're viewed as a "burden").
It doesn't matter who you agree with or don't agree with on politics. No two people will ever agree on everything. Even my wife and I disagree on a wide range of political things. But we get along great. █
